I have been working on this body of work for many years. At first I called the work Asbestos Lungs as it was a direct translation of imagery of the affects of asbestos on lungs. I found it difficult to start, so in order to get over the hesitation, I just began making, hoping that the work would take on a life of its own. It had a number of iterations but eventually the body of work created was for my 2014 exhibition, Habitus. This is the origins in this work.
I continued to play around with these ideas for an exhibition in 2016. The lower image is still being worked on. Its current title is Shadow of Doubt. It uses metal thread embroidery. It is quite large at approximately 175 (H) x 104 (W) cm.
