In 1998 I began working on the theme of red shoes. What began as a design of a pair of red slippers for a postcard ended up as a travelling exhibition, 100 Red Shoes, that began at Object Galleries in Sydney and travelled to various regional galleries throughout NSW between 1999 and 2002. To compliment the exhibition it was suggested that I make a production range as well. So began the Red Shoe Museum. In a way it was a repository of all the red shoe stories that people had told me when I was present at the exhibition openings. The final Red Shoe Museum was constructed with four books that I made with little narratives and embroideries of red shoes. Many of these works were bought by national cultural institutions.
